I don't see why the arguing though, the LS was obviously designed differently from the previous LS models, for a more sporty , firm ride, id guess to compete with the German competitors.

I can see now why the air suspension might be very valuable to some people, while I keep mine on the sport (firmest ) setting, switching it to comfort changes it completely , and it will definitely absorb blows better if that's what your looking for.

 

Except for large suspension extension distances, I notice almost no difference in the three settings. On 'comfort', I do notice rebound damping is a bit less, but that's about it.

For the first few weeks, I'd have sworn this switch is connected to absolutely nothing but the light in the cluster.

 

Your switch might be disconnected or something else could be not working right , because that switch makes a night and day difference over how the car drives and handles.

The difference between sport and comfort is two different cars, I never use comfort cause its too bouncy and too soft, you should definitely notice a difference from playing with those settings.

 

I'd venture to say the same, I can feel a definitive difference between each of the 3 settings. I tend to leave it in comfort mode though.

 

Definitely true. I didn't think our 2006 LS 430 rode all that great until I ditched the ultra-high performance Michelins that the seller put on the car and I went with Pirelli P7 Plus grand-touring tires. It was the first time I really appreciated the difference tires have on a car and the Pirellis gave back that serene ride quality that I expected from an LS.

Then, when I went shopping for an LS 460 I was underwhelmed by the 2007s and 2008s that I test drove. It wasn't until I test drove a 2011 that I recognized something was amiss with those previous examples. Those 2007 and 2008 candidates I test drove earlier in my search must have needed new control arms or new air struts, or both!

I can see where the OP is coming from too though because there are times I feel my wife's 2006 ES rides smoother than our 2006 LS on a nearby stretch of road. The ES seems to float and gently bob along and glide more effortlessly on a particular road near our home. It feels as if the whole ES is on a spring whereas the LS is solid in the cabin but I can feel the tires working against little bumps in the road. However, it could very well be the 17-inch tires on the ES versus the heavier and wider 18-inch tires on the LS. I imagine the LS on 17s (and especially original 16s!) would be even smoother than the ES across all surfaces, bar none.
