This same failure happened recently on my 2008 LS. Tried disconnecting the battery for a while and reconnecting, no luck. We can replace that for $2100 but no guarantee that will work. Only other option is to replace the whole head unit for $5000+". They said the hard drive part alone is $1600. Really? For a 500GB hard drive that costs about $25 now? And they wouldn't even credit the $2100 towards the head unit replacement in case the hard drive replacement doesn't work. Yikes! My guess is that the hard drive itself is probably fine but has become corrupted somehow and needs to be re-imaged. Dealer won't or can't do that. And I would guess that nobody else can get around Lexus' proprietary stuff to do it either. Car is great otherwise, and even the radio kind of works. Anybody have any new ideas on this problem?
