Default Impressive Highway mileage

Just finished the first long road trip in my 2013 F-sport, and was pleasantly surprised how well it did on gas.

This was driving gently at 75-80mph, flat highway, no traffic. Eco mode on. 28.5mph. Same as my ES350, not bad!

Cool

Just wanted to agree with you on highway mileage - I have been on two long trips and my 2008 L, showed 31.5 mpg on info screen first trip (Illinois to Texas and back) with second trip Illinois to South Carolina and back with 32.5 mpg! I was very happy to say the least. I noticed that above 75 the instant mileage would drop a bit, so just kept it at 75 and let the speed demons just blow by. Just think what kind of mileage we all could get if Lexus had active cylinder de-activation on our V-8's, its not new technology by any stretch of the imagination - BUT we all know that Toyota doesn't adapt instantly to all the knew tech in cars now. Heck, they couldn't even put a factory remote starter on a car that starts out at about $75K ...........

My 08 with 140k miles on it will still get 30mpg @79mph on flat desert roads. Throw some pitch in the road and it drops to 26-28mpg.

2007 LS460 with 130K miles. From Vegas to LAX, 28mpg @ 75-80mph. From Vegas to SFO, 29mpg @ 75-85mph. no bad for a almost 10 years old car. i think it still have original spark plugs.

I doubt the increase in mpg would be anything significant. I have a Honda Oddity with said deactivation, and I seriously doubt it does much better than one with out. Plus, I find it noticeable when it kicks in and out. Slightly annoying too. For what is gained with this system on the Oddity, it is certainly NOT worth it. I'm very glad the LS does NOT have this feature. The complexity and risk is not worth a slight tick in mpg, IMO.

I get somewhere around 28-30 on the highway and average around 26.5 for the week. My long term gas mileage average is 26.3 and bounces up a little as the weather gets warmer before settling around 26.6

I do mostly highway and country back roads where you can get yourself comfortably in the 40-50 mph range, with little traffic and even less traffic lights. I hate sitting in traffic - I'll go some mileage out of my way to avoid it - in the end I save time and fuel. I find that this car loves to kind of "glide". It rolls very easily if you let it...let your foot off the gas and allow this thing to coast, because it's amazing how far it will. Going down hills this thing never needs any gas, in fact it picks up as much speed by just letting it glide. This is what I've discovered anyway.

I loved my LS gas mileage......until my wife got her CT200H. Now I curse my car every time I drive it! LOL. Not really, but man, her CT200H takes about 25 bucks of gas to fill up and goes about 400 miles. It's creepy!

My ls430 got pretty good gas mileage and I was happy with that until I seen how good my 08L is , pretty amazing for such a heavy car with nearly 400hp

The other large v8 flagships do not come near these numbers you guys are getting, 30mpg+ ....the car will pay for itself over time

Highway mileage in the 600 is actually slightly worse...by 2mpg. It only excels in the city...and only marginally (4mpg). So, if you do a combination of hwy/city, you will not see any gains.

That's pretty ridiculous

The 600 is still a cool car, mainly for the features and interior upgrades, but the whole hybrid and extra power seems to be a bit of a fail on their part.

Exactly and most people aren't aware of that. I bet the 600 is a faster car though.

It kind of amazes me that Lexus made a hybrid that doesn't really get better mileage than the regular model...then charged an additional 20-30 grand for it.
