Since replacing the switch didn't fix it, I would say the next component in the switching mechanism is stuck in the ON position inside the door panel. It could be a mechanical issue. Did you open the door panel to replace the switch? If possible, check the connectivity in the circuit at various points using a multimeter with the door open or shut. That could reveal the source of the problem.Originally Posted by garyr

The simplest solution would be to remove the bulb. Not ideal, but that's better than draining the battery.
There is only one switch. I did take the bulb out for now. Just seems weird, I think its more a computer issue somewhere.

Hello Gary,
Glad to hear from you - it has been a long time.
You need to check to see if the doorjamb switch will cause the "Door Open" indicator in the dash to light - you can operate the switch with your finger when the door is open. If that is working then the switch and wiring are probably good. I think there is a door lighting control module that switches the door lights on and off - it likely has solid-state switches. Seems like someone replaced theirs new for about $450. You may be able to find one salvage for much less.
Regards,
Jeff
