Have been in contact with GROM regarding questions, they've been absolutely fantastic addressing any technical questions and general questions. A+ on customer service!
Have they indicated how they're going to solve the issues? My concern is how they would release a product with so may gremlins. I had a feeling this thing would be too good to be true. I was really looking forward to finally getting a solution like this one.

issues will be addressed with on-going firmware updates as needed.

Roger that. So, as they "see fit".
As the consumer, I would have preferred they make it work out of the box. Normally firmware updates address future issues (like compatibility with future hardware etc), not issues that exist before selling and placing it on the market.

Agreed - but I think that isn't the world we live in today. For better or worse, pretty much everything software related is released and then constantly updated with bugfixes, security fixes, and new features. This is an android computer and in my mind falls into the same category.
I've continued to use it daily and I absolutely love it. CarPlay is so far superior to the stock capabilities that the little niggles don't even remotely bother me. The most annoying thing I deal with right now would be the touchscreen being non-responsive upon startup when I plug in my phone before a full boot. It's solved by unplugging and replugging in the USB which takes all of about 10 seconds. That with the occasional display glitches are really all I notice in day to day use.

I second that. It seems like it would be a simple fix for them; for it would just require delaying or reordering when the CarPlay app starts verses the initialization of attached phone. I'm a bit concerned with Grom's response that CarPlay will be removed from future V-Line firmware until Apple certifies it. It seems like Apple may not certify it with this quirky behavior. To me, ApplePlay is the best part, so I won't be getting any future updates until I know it is present.
Other thoughts: Perhaps there is a hardware solution that would offer a delay after power-up before the USB port with the phone gets connected. Does anyone know of such a device?

I am not trying to be a smart**s, but could your hands be that hardware solution? Wait to plug in the phone after VLine has powered up??

Typically after I start my car, I begin driving and my hands are on the steering wheel. I don't mind waiting for the V-Line to boot before the music starts, though I do mind sitting and idling in order to plug the phone in; a two hand operation. I suppose I could use a holder for the phone to make it a one hand operation, though I'd rather add a delay circuit. Assuming I can wire the relay to the USB switch, this might work ...

Not having good luck with this unit. I was trying to install gapps is update function since there was no CarPlay when I pressed the plus. It failed 2-3 times to install and then it went through. Have not had a chance to see if it is working because I clicked on web radio default app and now it is frozen on that screen at startup, even after sitting overnight. Touch screen does not work. Is there some way to reset this thing?
