Default Headlight adjustment w/ pics

Just thought I'd post this since I couldn't find much on it when I was wondering how to adjust the headlights. As the picture shows, there is a groove that leads down to the gear that adjusts the low beam. There's no cover, you just have too find the right angle to look down at it. I used a medium head screwdriver approximately 8". After putting in a new set of bulbs from The Retrofit Source, I waited till dark and found a building and pulled up to it stayin about 35ft. Away. My drivers side seemed fine so all I wanted to do was raise the passenger's side. After inserting the screwdriver I turned it counter clockwise to raise as I'd always read. This is not true. Turn it clockwise ti raise and it's takes a good 50-75 turns to make a difference, but you'll see it slowly raise. Again, clockwise to raise !! Hope this helps.

The plastic piece at the top is the side piece that runs along the length of the fender

Thnaks for the pics!

Looking at the owner's manual, they seem to be talking about a second gear to adjust..... did you find that one too?

The other gear adjustment for the high beam is right above the lower gear that adjusts the low beam. In the pics I took one with and one without the cap. The cap pops off to adjust the high beam.

Light is shining on lower gear. High beam gear is to the left

Mods,

I suggest you move this thread to the DIY thread.... I looked for this for a long time and couldn't find anything, so this could be useful to someone else in the future...

There are two gears per headlight and they are supposed to be turned the same number of times..otherwise it may impact your AFS. As long as your AFS is adjusting properly while turning and you aren't getting flashed..you should be fine

The fog lamps have a single elevation gear that can be adjusted either through fender liner or removing rubber plug on lower bumper and a long slotted screwdriver. .easiest while car is on a lift

Had success with aiming low beams, but now when I tried to lower the drivers side high beam it kept moving to the left with every turn of the adjustment. is there an adjustment for horizontal placement ??

This goes back to what I mentioned above. The owners manual clearly states you have to turn both screws for each housing equally. I was mildly successful with this in the past, but it took a lot of playing around with and I just settled, but my AFS as far as how my lights turned when turning was never quite the same. You'll have to play around with the screws, but pay attention to how many turns and which direction and use a wall so you can see exactly how much it is moving and what direction

I merged the new thread you created about the high beams back into the original post about headlight adjustment since it goes hand in hand.

Thanks CJITTY, I started a new thread because I wasn't getting any response when I asked this in the other thread. But no worries. I did read the owners manual but if I lower the low beam as well as the high beam, the low beams gonna be aiming at the ground ?? Didn't know if there was another adjustment I didn't know about.
