Quote: I'm having this issue in my car and my idea has been to try and match up a silver paint pen to the trim color and mask it off and try the repair. I'll probably start tackling it in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Hey did you end up giving this a try?

Mine had this and they replaced the entire $3200 nav unit under warranty to fix it. If it happens again I will do the chrome silver paint idea, thanks!

Like world peace and feeding the hungry? Different forum for that. This forum is where we solve smaller problems even if they seem trifle to some.

The taping off with silver paint sounds like a good option. The end result could be great. Worse case scenario, it shouldn't any worse than what you have now.

Quote: Also, the rubber piece that covers the trunk release button on the trunk melts. When I checked the service history on mine it had been replaced twice already.
i took a piece of packing tape, cut it to a little bigger than the rubber that melted and carefully taped it. I live in Florida, it has worked well. Cheap fix and no black crap on my fingers.

I use similar pens for fire/safe on arms
Nail art pens are really good for detail work like that but as stated.. tape off using some nice painter's tape (frogtape, 3M, etc). For direct work it is point/click. I use these at work to make serial numbers engraved on equipment stand out.. and for firearms where the fire/safe engraving.. isn't always easy to read.

Silver.. but many other colors are available and you can get these at your local CVS drugstore and don't have to use Amazon.

Hi.

I have the same issue with my 2010 lwb. Another contributor, sorry can’t remember who, had an 07, 08, or 09 and was able to find the surround without having to replace the nav screen. I checked out his referral with a part number, but for 2010-2012, the part was only for a car without nav so I did not order it.

I live in North Texas area and have only found one place that say they can do a complete repair and make it look new, however, I haven’t braved trying them out .

Maybe someone has tried having it done or someone above can let us know how their touch up technique works.

Best,

Cubby
