It is a cooling fin. The LEDs run hot enough to require cooling.

I am curious whether such cooling fins are also found in the low beam LEDs of Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Acura and Cadillac? I haven't looked closely, but many of their low beam housings look very compact and don't seem to have the room.

They all have to have some form of heat sink to dissipate the heat. They aren't always in plain view.
