Default Customizing the Start Up & Display Off Image on 13+ LS460s

Here's some info for anyone who is interested in this feature or has already customized their screen. I think it's a pretty cool way to personalize your LS and is nice touch upon start up and to display an image while driving when using the data in the window isn't a necessity.

***I will update this initial post with any relevant info. so we can keep it in one place. I got some info. over on the GS thread but given the 13+ have a slightly bigger screen and different details I wanted to share it here.

First off what the instructions don't say is you must use a USB memory stick that is formatted from a PC. The Lexus HD will not recognize anything formatted on a Mac. I formatted mine with FAT32. I also only used 2 folders named EXACTLY "StartupImage" and "DisplayoffImage". It is case sensitive. You can only load 3 images (.jpg / .jpeg file format) per folder so only load the 3 / 6 total. Simply insert this correctly formatted USB drive into the port in your center console and open the menu on the main screen. Go to General Settings and then select "Customize Startup Image" on the second page down. Select "transfer" then choose your favorite image. In my experience the start up image will only flash for a second upon start up after the Lexus & "L" logo and this lasts a total of 5 seconds on every start up.The Display Off Image will be prominently displayed whenever you choose to have the display off (when you're not using navigation etc.) The image will only populate in the center of the display so you may choose to create any size image but keep in mind you may or may not see black bars at the top and bottom of your image depending on the image created and selected.

Anyone try this little trick? If so any tips to getting the start up image to last more than a one second flash?

you only get a quick startup image for mow. is it just me or does that screen seem a little small for a 14MY LS??
or is it just the pic? yes, apple images wont work and also certain other types of images it wont work, but normal jPEG images should be fine.

you can also use a usb flash stick for audio. and watch DVDs but the car has to be in park, with the parking brake applied. ive been trying to figure out a workaround for that

VaisTech and others allow infotainment on the go.

That's the only size that gets displayed on the screen. It's centered and doesn't fill the entire display. Even changing the aspect ration creates black bars top and bottom.

Actual VAIS, Beat-Sonic and Prestigious Society all have units that do that.

I tried, but the car didn't pickup any files on the thumb drive. I had 1 folder with the images I was wanting to load, & two other folders with my personal files. Perhaps you can only have 1 folder with images you're trying to load?

Just add 2 folders named EXACTLY "StartupImage" and "DisplayoffImage" and have only 3 images in each folder.

Got it to load images.

I used a brand new thumb drive & formatted FAT32 & created folders.

Awesome! I think the start up is pretty cool. Very subtle touch. Your passengers might pick up on it too. Here in Hawaii I don't need GPS often so I appreciate the display off image.
