Suddenly got the "check tire pressure system" error (not the tire pressure one) so I tried the only procedure I could find, turning ignition on and holding reset tpms button below steering colum. Got the tpms resetting message but the previous message came back.
How can I fix that issue? Never had that before.

 

My guess would be that the battery in one of your TPMS has died.

 

It could be one of the sensors inside the rims..

 

Got it thanks, so only the dealer can run a diagnostic to identify if it's a battery or/and a tpms and from which wheel? or is there a way for me to found out maybe through the carista app or a maybe through costco where I bought the tires from, can they fix that sort of issue?

 

Around here Autozone is a great place to test your battery and get it replaced if needed. Don't know if they're out your way, but there has to be something similar. Once you test the battery you'll have eliminated one link in the chain.

 

Thanks but the previous refers to the tpms battery not the other battery unless i gor it wrong. Has anyone experienced this issue?

 

I had a similar problem and I had a bad tpms sensor on one my front wheels. All four sensors have a battery and I was told it wasn't a battery even though I had second doubts. $200 to replace the sensor but it was covered under warranty.

 

You can take it just about anywhere and they'll be able to read your sensors and check for response, if the sensor doesn't respond to the TPMS tool...the battery in the sensor is dead. The sensors generally last 7 years.

Most after market sensors are between $35-$60 dollars a piece, an independent shop would probably charge you $350 for four...only problem is your car takes five (spare tire). You could just replace one, but you may get a better value if you replace them all.

Thanks, so the way to go is to replace all 5 of the tpms sensors not just the batteries? If i get them from fleabay, I presume it's going to be difficult to find an tire place that will install the new tpms sensors for you since you didn't buy those from them...

Meanwhile, is there a way to disable that warning on the console?

 

you cant replace tpms sensor batteries. you have to get new ones but around 7 years they go bad from the batteries dyeing, discount tire can hook you up with a replacement but i would get them all changed and because one by one there gonna go. and dont forget the spare in the trunk.

 

About three weeks ago my LS TPMS system alarmed. I wasn't able to get it fixed right away. After 4 or 5 days it reset itself! I never determined the problem but so far, so good.

 

Good to know, i won't be driving the car next week so we'll see when I get back. Called discount tire and was told $60 per sensor + $16 installation/programming per wheel. Otherwise, if you bring your own tpms they charge $20 per wheel for installation/programming.

How do we know how hold a tpms is? Is the batterry "activated" when you install the tpms? I just want to avoid buying a tpms with a battery that has been sitting on a shelve for years already. Saw quite few on fleabay, does someone know a trustworthy vendor?

 

Connected Carrista app and it detected and allowed me to reset this error. Warming lights are gone from dashboard, I drove the car few times after that and so far this error message didn't reappeared. Tire pressure indicator shows the first one stuck on "checking" but the remaininig 4 tires levels as expected, which wheel is the first one?

 

Good question it depends on the wheel there no specific order. The ebay ones make sure there new and not used always check for that.
