Default So I curbed rashed my front lip

I'm so pissed. I'm such an idiot.

I go to the same places I typically go to and have been driving in the same car (my previous car) for ten years doing so.

Well today, I go to the Lowes near me (that I've been going to for years) after work and the entrance from the street has one of those dipped gutters. While it's fairly steep, I've always cleared in my previous car.

Well dumb me, thinking nothing of it, pull in from across the street like I always do and then SCRAPE!

Couldn't believe it lol.

I pulled into the parking lot, looked underneath and sure enough there's a deep scratch and scrapes just under the front lip. It's really not visible looking head on, but underneath it's there and there's a section about the size of a dime that shows the black plastic under the lip along with a few scrapes.

What can I do lol? I'll take some pictures later, I really don't feel like looking at it again today.

Edit: searching around for Eminent White Pearl touch up paint is proving futile. Dr. Colorchip and others don't even have it listed yet.

This spot is always exposed to scratches from curbs, parking pads, etc.

Simple remedy: don't look down there...

lol. Yeah thankfully I can't see it unless i'm laying flat on my stomach, but it still bothers me lol. I'm going to wait until my paint code hits the market and see if I can just cover it up.

Hfahmy got it right.

I looked under mine right after bringing it home from the dealership and felt a little sick in the stomach when I saw the same "damage"
On the bright side, there'll be no rust and the bumper and front end on the whole is so well put together, nothing was loose and needed repair!

It happens. Me included.

As for paint, you can just go to NAPA or other auto parts place and have them mix up a bottle of paint for you. They'll grab your paint code and mix it for you for a fraction of the cost of your dealer. I paid 18 bucks for a bottle that's 3 or 4 times the amount of paint sold by dealers. You can even buy a spray bottle for it.

happened to me a couple months back. took too wide of a turn when i tried to take a parallel spot. i bought white pearl/077 from this site:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

i did the work a couple weeks back and it worked out. it was towards the bottom of the car so you can only see that it was touched up if you look at it closely. way better than staring at the the black plastic of the lip.

because it is pearl, you have to do multiple layers (about a five minute wait between them). i watched a lot of youtube videos to build my confidence...

This bugs me too, but my advice would be to just ignore it, if you can't see it from standing height, be happy its not that bad and be more careful in the future. It'll happen again!

Yeah I can't in my good conscious ignore it. I don't even have close to 1,000 miles yet. It nags at me like my ex wife, lol.

In any case, I talked automotive touchup and found out that our eminent white pearl is actually sonic quartz metallic with a paint code of 085. I'm pretty sure my paint code is 085, but just curious of the name difference?

Anyone know anything about "sonic quartz metallic?"

Irritating but no one will know but you. New and old vehicles have damage in that area including mines. You're not alone.

Get it touched up if it bugs you. The dealer should have touch up paint. Try looking for a local detail shop and I'm sure it can get cleaned up. Won't be perfect but should be an improvement.

Mine looks horrific, the way I see it...I'd rather pull into parking spaces a little further...scrape the lip...and prevent my tail from sticking out a little too far where someone clips me. It beats the alternative.

And is it just me, or is the paint on the front bumper the softest paint known to man? Mine is so pitted I need to have it painted.
