Default Need advice on price

Turns out the certification + extended warranty on the 2011 LS 460 with the sport package I have been considering is not transferable. The car is clean, 40k miles. What is a fair price from a private party? All services were done. Asking price is around 33K now.
Any input would be appreciated. My wife's current car has 2 lease payments remaining and I am trying to figure out if to get this one or take a chance at waiting 2 months to see if other similar cars pop up in my area...

I purchased my 2011 AWD with 60k 1 year ago for $33k. It was the best deal to me in over 6 month of looking.

Interesting... so are you implying that 33K for a 2011 is high currently?

If your willing to travel a bit I'm sure you'll find a better deal though that deal is decent. If you want a warranty, try going into Lexus before purchasing to see if they'll sell you an extended warranty, then try to work that into the deal by having the seller discount the price.

If the car is no longer certified, which I'm not quite sure I understand, then it could be a game changer. Really depends on how long the car has sat. In the meantime, I looked a similar type car up on kkb.com. Their asking price is spot on retail. The average price of the car with roughly 68,000 miles is between $28K and $33K. If you can work a deal in the middle, it may be worth it to you.

Kelly Blue Book specs:

Good luck!

Well, apparently if a platinum extended warranty is purchased when the car is certified, it is considered an extension of the warranty and cannot be transferred. It is ridiculous, but it is what it is... Apparently the owner can get a refund of the remainder. I think the car has been on the market for a while but owner is greedy. They basically want as much as retail value.... It has 40k miles not 68k btw

Yeah, Lexus warranties are non transferable, no exceptions. I was suggesting that if you were to approach Lexus now prior to purchasing, and ask them about getting a new warranty under your name and see what they say. You'll have to pay for it of course. Or you could go aftermarket warranty.

If you have your heart set on a sport model, you might have limited cars to choose from. I saw a 2010 Sport with almost 100k miles for sale when I was looking back in Sept. It was at a Lexus dealer and they were asking $28k with no warranty of course.

I pretty much am set on finding one with the sport package. Currently there is only 1 certified in the nation as far as I can tell - and it's a 2012 and above my price point.

I agree with it being a fair to good deal. This was the best purchase I found in 6 months of looking. And yours is a high option car. If you are happy with the condition of the car. I say go for it !

Is this the one with the repair? Did you check Carfax to make sure repair did not show up?

Great! do pre-purchase inspection before you buy.

With the air suspension of the sport, you should spring for a warranty of some sort. There are some decent aftermarket offerings. And keep in mind, if the car is currently under some sort of Lexus warranty, they should be willing to sell you a warranty.

Really? Is the air suspension prone to breaking down? How expensive are these to repair? I had a Mercedes S63 in the past with it - those are complicated systems but in a Lexus I was hoping they are bullet proof..
