Poor Tire Life
I changed my first set of Bridgestones at 25K miles. I was hoping the next set of Michelin Pilot Sports AS/3 would last longer, since they had a 45K miles warranty.
A nail in one of the tires made me take a look at the tires, all of which had worn down to 5/32" tread depth. These were Z rated tires, that wore out in 18K miles.
Just replaced them with Y rated same tires. $910.
Is it Michelin, or just my bad luck?
Sigh!

Not Michelin or your bad luck. A 4500 lb luxury sedan with aggressive alignment settings is not going to achieve stated tire life with any tire. Most members seem to have tires last 20-25k miles.

You should try running higher treadwear touring tires instead of high speed rated ultra high performance tires. That will help some.

same here, Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 wear out in 20k miles.
per warranty, Costco reimbursed like 40% of the original new tire price I paid.
not too bad.

Correction: the new tires are Z rated too. Discount tire matched Costco's prices and gave me a refund on the tire I had not even bought from them, and their warranty gets you a new tire in case of a road hazard claim. I also find their customer service better than Costco. So now all 3 of my cars have Discount Tires! I used to be a loyal Costco customer, but they are so popular, to quote Yogi Berra, that no one goes there any more!
