If you are speaking of locking the wireless electronic key in the trunk, I think I recall that when my '07 was new, I tried to close the trunk with the electronic key inside the trunk and it wouldn't close. I hope that someone who knows about this will help us answer this question. The cars are very well designed and there is lots of protection built in to protect from locking the electronic key in the car.

If you are speaking of locking the electronic key in the the car, there is certainly protection for that. However, a defective doorjamb switch will allow the electronic key to be locked inside the car.

 

ok thanks for all that info. simply need to investigate what my family member did to resolve the issue of locked fob in the trunk but have a feeling he is not telling me all the truth.
