Rotor Change Out
Ok so I am coming up on 38,000 miles on my 2010 LS 460L. Back in August when I had the 35,000 mile service at Lexus of Omaha. The service folks said I was down to 5 or 6 mm on the front and 6 or 7 mm on the rears and they recommended having the brakes done in the next 5-10K miles. I am ok with that even though I would have no more than 45,000 miles on the car. The car spent it's first 3 and half years on lease in FL coming off lease with 17,xxx miles. I am guessing given that FL is fairly flat that the car did not spend much time coming down long 6 percent grades in the mountains smoking the rotors. The brakes feel fine although they may pull just a little to the right. So my question is do/ has most folks change out the OEM Rotors after the first brake pad change? I am guessing you would really need to smoke the brakes to warp them? Are the OEM Rotors that Lexus uses inferior in any way?

There is an overwhelming consensus that Lexus rotors are prone to warping as were mine. I replaced with aftermarket and haven't had an issue since. I think I paid 55 dollars for the pair with free shipping. For that price and virtually zero labo,r (since the calipers will be aside for pad replacement), it's a no-brainer. Alll the postings on Ebay I saw had a warranty against warping.
