Default Adding Navigation to 2007 LS 460

Has anyone experienced adding navigation to a LS 460? Vendor for parts and installer recommendation appreciated.

I haven't heard of anyone doing it because it probably involves major surgery since so many things are tied into it. Its rare to see a non nav 460. I think it would be more cost efficient to do a custom iPad mini install or something along those lines

Default Not worth the trouble?

I just got my LS460 and do agree most of the models I saw had navi. There were the occasional few that did not.

Like CJITTY said I don't think it is worth your money or time to install factory nav. Even on mine I use my iPhone navi more often than the car's. A factory system would be integrated to multiple aspects of the car like speakers, controls, etc...I shudder to think of the requirements beyond finding a used navi head unit...

I checked into this for my 2007 without nav and determined it was far too expensive and not worth the trouble (for me).

Even though there's no nav, it sure is a handsome interior!

Thank you all for your response. I have not purchased the 2007 LS 460 as it does not have navigation. Im on the fence since its doesn't have navigation however it is a one owner with 45k miles. Great car but for navigation.

Don't buy something you'll regret. Get what you want.

If the price & car is super nice, can you live without nav?

Having been in this buying mode literally not 2 weeks ago, I too came across a few LS460's without nav (found a 2009 under $20k...but without nav).

As RZ mentioned, get what you want, regardless of the deal. Most non-navi LS460's will come without the ML sound system, which I think many concur is a very worthwhile upgrade. That said, if the price is right on this vehicle (45k miles in 8 years is pretty darned low mileage! ) I'd consider the vehicle without the navi.....

Having navi myself, I rarely use it (I have a 2010 and in the ever-expanding city of Dallas, so many roads are being added that my navi isn't as useful as it could be). I use my iPhone for hairy navigation requirements, especially since it takes into account traffic conditions among other things.

Hope this helps....I didn't let a non-navi equipped interior deter me from checking out a car.

There is a lot of other data available via the navgation screen like Back Up Camera, Maintenence Log, etc.. but the non-nav dash is probably faster and eaiser to use as far as the environmental and sound controls go.

When I bought my 2007 last year, I wanted the Nav and BU camera capabilities but then I found out it will cost about $250 to get the Nav updated (never done since new) so that is a bit of a bummer especially since it sounds like the system is not nearly as user friendly as a $100 Garmin!

I expect their might also be other interior features that are included with the Nav/BU package that you wouldn't get without it but I don't know what if any.

To me, seems like a car of this status wouldn't be complete without the Navigation package so I would expect it on any car I was going to buy.
