So to add to all this conversation: What are you guys unhappy about with the LS? Is it the 6cyl? The behind the times tech? Which tech? Redbird got me looking at A8s last month and the technology incased in it was mindblowing. I didn't know some of that existed. I'm sure others have similar technology. Lexus doesn't but that doesn't steer me away from making them my first pick/go to when looking for a big sedan. I have had a '95 S500 that i bought in '96 . Considered a brand new LS400 but we went with the Merc. (Sidebar:I think that was my fork in the road but that's for another time). Haven't driven it in a few years(7?) but have it garaged . My goal was to retire and take it on my ultimate roadie with my wife when i/we retire. For me, at this stage in my life, reliability is my most important metric. No my VCR isn't flashing 12:00 pm but some of this tech just doesn't appeal to me or i just don't understand it's significance. The one thing i will always remember about Kia/Hyundai is what my friend ,who is a mechanic, said about H/K. He said that although they seemed to be good cars , he was amazed at how many screws they would us to assemble the products where as the more 'mature ' manufacturers would have welded panels . I took this to mean they were less sophisticated than the old guard but not necessarily less reliable.
Does Lexus have to bring back the V8 and Carplay to keep you guys or is there something more? Maybe some of you just want a change. Maybe you'll be back after a few years when what you thought was important has changed.
I enjoy reading these post and will look at a G90 , as i did with the A8 but i think everything will go through my Lexus eyes first. When i think of this class i think of them as grand tourers and the two most important things for an extended trip are reliability and comfort. 1A/1B or 1B/1A.

The lack of a V8, the firmer sportier ride, the smaller tighter interior, and the tech. For me it’s more the space and the powertrain and ride vs the tech. The new LS does have apple CarPlay.

The new ls500 has no wow factor, too small hard seats, feels cramped, ride not good enough, not quite enough, doesn't look like a limousine, even the updated 2021 infotainment is bad.

I want a LS with a diesel engine like Twin-turbo 1VD-FTV

Agreed. But compare a 17 Ls460L to a 17 G90 ultimate. It shows Lexus has been resting on their laurels for much too long. But, because of the Lexus name, you can pay way more for much less.

I would still (and did) choose the LS460L in that comparison. LS500 vs G90 I would choose the G90.
