Car Care
You're just wrong, sorry. The issue with a chamois is there is no nap to encapsulate dirt. So, the chamois itself doesn't scratch but if a particle of sand or something gets between it and the paint, it will.
You are also wrong about the MF drying towels, you likely have never used a good quality heavy drying towel or you have used them wrong. They dry a car totally just like a chamois, you use it the same way.

Also, its 2026...we don't use wax anymore lol. Detailing has come a long way, you need to try some new stuff.

...... "Chamois don't encapsulate the sand and dirt like a microfiber towel." Those are your words. You hit it right on the head- if there's sand and dirt getting in your drying towels.... you obviously don't know how to wash a vehicle in the first place!.. and yes people do still use wax, when water stops beading as well as it does after being waxed it gets rewaxed. End of story I wax all my vehicles once a year, hand wax. If you're using that bullshit ceramic coating you're a fool seperated from good money.. You might as well just be spraying Rain-X all over your car at a much cheaper cost... some people go so far as believing the title "ceramic coating" is a hard finish that actually prevents their car from scratches and then take their vehicles off-road and are surprise when they still get pinstriped!. I use a good quality paste wax once a year, even though it is still protected, end of story. you do what you want,I'll do what I want but you're wrong about microfiber towels they are crap and I've tried different brands. They DO NOT totally drive your vehicle like a Chamois cloth. End of story. I would Also guess that you're probably someone who is only in their twenties and think you know everything.

You only wax once a year? That's it? Not monthly to actually allow it to have some level of protection? Ceramic is leagues stronger if you use a real one, issue is that costs a lot of money to even just buy some and the process to apply is a pain and requires humidity control.
Let me blow your mind, I can totally dry my cars in 3 minutes without touching them AT ALL because the hard coats are so slick the water doesn't stick to them in the first place.

If the paint isn't perfect the $1,500 is worth it just for the paint correction.
I have done a ceramic coating myself on my last several cars. The S580 and the Pacifica I haven't done it because the spray sealant/coating products have gotten so good and I enjoy using them regularly theres really no reason to do the coating. I like trying new products and all.
Thats the thing about wax, these spray products work way better, last longer and are much easier to use than a paste wax, the wax is totally obsolete. I waxed my car last summer with a new Gyeon Wax just for fun, yeah no reason to do that.
