I love my 08 ISF. It's a fun and reliable car that's given me nothing but please. It also has only 35k miles. But we have an addition in our family and the responsible person in me says it's time for something else (like an LS). My daily commute is a 60-mile round trip mostly at expressway speeds.

So for those who have gone from a sporty coupe/sedan to an LS, do you miss it? Do you ever look back and think that you've made the wrong choice?

 

I went from IS350 to LS600hL...would do it again In a heartbeat!!

I LOVED the IS350, powerful, fun, nimble...Not a bit of room, NOISY!

The LS...powerful, enjoyable, room like a Limo, QUIET!!

Do it, you won't regret it.

 

I second this! I went from a modified Subaru Legacy to the LS. It is the smoothest car I've ever driven. I often have passengers fall asleep in the car when going out.

 

I went from an 08 GS350 to an LS and have no regrets. I ave an 80 mile a day daily commute and having teh LS with ML has made the drive much more tolerable, it is more than adequate on the back road sections and a dream on the highway sections of my commute.

Have you consider a gen4 GS? Might be worth a look if you want to "split" the difference.

 

I have an IS250 and an LS460. They are very different cars. While small in the back for adults, there's plenty of room for car seats and baby junk. It's also a very comfortable car on my 17" wheels. I'd be happy to go back to it from the LS460 (if I could wring it out of my son's hands). The LS is a big car - the antithesis of the small, sporty IS. If you are uncomfortable on your commute with the ISF suspension and 19" wheels then the LS will be more comfortable. However, a sports car it ain't (in any incarnation). As above, the Gen 4 GS might be a good compromise. I find the ES, on the other hand, has the disadvantages of both the IS and the LS with very few of the advantages of either car.

I've had the LS as a loaner a few times and have driven it on my daily commute, so I know very well what the car would feel like. I live in Chicago where there are no back roads. I get on the express way and the only steering wheel turning that I have to do is to basically switch lanes. I've also had the GS4 for a few days and thought that if I will be going from the ISF, the GS was just not enough of a step into the luxury direction. To put it another way when I pulled away from the dealer in the GS I said to myself "hmm, nice car." When I pulled away from the dealer in the LS460 I said to myself "wow! this is pretty awesome!"

 

Sounds like you know what you want, then.

 

How the heck to you get an LS as a loaner?? which dealership? that doesn't happen locally that's for sure!

 

I failed to mention that after that I got back into the F, waited for it to warm up, mashed the pedal, and said "weeeeeeeeeee!"

So therein lies the problem.

 

I've only seen a few dealers which have these. Was definitely very generous of them to do that.

 

Well, then the answer is obvious....... get both!

 

I don't have a 460 but I do have a 430 looking to buy a 460 very soon.
I had an 08 F and that car was the best of both worlds.
Unless you want and need a smooth big luxury car I personally would keep the F.
I regret selling mine and always think about it.
But, speed has become secondary to me now and the big smooth ride with a large trunk and smooth transmission is more appealing.
Sounds like size and timing is a factor... (same reason for me).
LS will not bring you the same joy as the F.
However, the LS will bring you a different joy.
*you will miss the F, but you will definitely be happy with the LS460.

Ive got a question cause im a former TT supra owner. if you have the ISF and a Supra (personally I think the Supra has the greatest lexus engine ever built) wouldn't it make sense to have the supra as your "weee" car while the LS as your daily driver so that you do have both worlds?
