New Member -- Special Order Questions
Hi. New Member, here.
First, thank you to the hosts and moderators for such a great forum.
I want to order an LS460 L. I have never special ordered a car before. Any tips?
The dealer is telling me that orders are only "picked up" or started in manufacture, or something, twice a month.
Does anyone know what days of the month are the new order start days? If it varies, what are they for May 2014?
Can I get an invoice with price and options for my order before the order is "picked up" by Lexus manufacturing in Tahara, or is that only generated once the order is "picked up?"
It's a lot of money, and a long wait, so I am just anxious to make sure I do this the best way. And then that the order actually goes in, is correct and the price doesn't change from what I was expecting.

You can get MSRP prices on the lexus website ("Build you Lexus"). You can go to KBB.com and Edmunds.com for invoice prices and local sales prices but I think the best site for these is truecar.com

I know when I ordered my LS back in 2007, the dealer only submitted custom orders at certain times. I believe mine went in the first of the month. Your dealer can tell you when they would submit your order.
As to the pricing, once you specify your exact order there will an MSRP price. Then you will negotiate a final price with your dealer. A final price will be put on a sales contract and you will put down a deposit ($1000 should be all you should give them).
From there it's about a 3 month wait.
