Hey guys! Im in a bit of trouble, my 2007 Lexus ls460's battery died. I used jumper cables to start the car, not knowing it will cause so much problems. All my brake abs and vsc lights came on, while the information center says to stop the car immediately and call the dealer. The problem is I don't have warranty and don't want to spend an arm and a leg to fix this. I tried leaving the battery disconnected for 24 hrs and same thing. What should i do? please help! Change your battery...

 

+ 1 for changing the battery. I found a couple of threads and most solved the issue with a new battery. Though one had a sensor that needed to be calibrated. Why did your battery go dead to begin with?

 

Thank you guys for the replies. Yes, I just got a new battery and still same thing. The battery went dead, i think, because of me not turning off the lights for some reason. I really hope its nothing major. This is my first car and I'm a college student as well, so these expenses are really not needed.

 

First car and college student = LS460... nice! Hopefully the new battery will fix the issue. Bring it by somewhere that will run an OBDII scan and see if their machine has the ability to reset all the lights.

 

It should not be possible to completely discharge the battery by leaving the lights on as the car is equipped with an auto-lights-off feature, so if you are experiencing that it is likely due to a defective doorjamb switch. Here are some useful links to discussions of the doorjamb switch problem:

Multiple warning lights after jump-starting is a common problem. Although your car may have a problem that is coincidental with your battery event, most of the time these sorts of problems are resolved by connecting the car to a fully charged good battery. New batteries are not necessary fully charged batteries. Remove or disconnect the battery from the car and insure that it is fully charged by measuring the battery's state-of-charge with a voltmeter or hydrometer. Connect the fully-charged, good battery to the car while you keep your fingers crossed. Most of the time new batteries that are not fully charged at the time of installation become fully charged quickly by the car's charging system so just disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, 5 minutes is enough, and then reconnecting will resolve the problem. If you don't have the tools to check the battery's charge then take it to a full service battery dealer to be charged and tested. Good luck!

I like to see around 13.6v.

 

Here is a link to a table that provides temperature compensated battery state-of-charge data for both "wet standard batteries" and "wet AGM" batteries in both open-circuit-voltage and specific gravity. As an example, a fully charged wet standard battery at 70 deg F would have an open circuit voltage, surface charge removed, of 12.643 volts. The same battery, fully discharged, would have an open circuit voltage of 12.053 volts.

The "Gold Standard" for testing wet standard batteries is to measure the specific gravity of each cell of a fully charged battery with a hydrometer.

 

What happened?!? I'm sure imquiring minds would like to know.

 

My battery went dead once and ABS light came on. They had to re-calibrate my ABS with the scanner to clear it.
I hope this not happening everytime battery went out ....

 

My battery discharged a couple of times and had to be re-charged. No problems resetting anything (except the HDD had to re-boot itself each time). Got a new battery and all is well.

 

Hey guys! So I have some good news. I thought it will be a lot worse. The lights and the actual brake system didn't work. I went to a mechanic and they just have to reset the whole system. Everything works fine now. The best part it just costed 100 dollars. Thank you so much for everyone that helped out!
