Default Window question

Hey guys,

Hopefully this isn't a big issue, but I got in my car this morning and tried lowering the windows and only the driver window would function from the driver controls. The windows work fine with their own door control, but not from the driver's seat. Is there a button I my have pushed or toggled?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance!

I assume you don't have the window lock switch engaged, otherwise the individual door switches wouldn't operate the windows. I seem to recall that there was a thread similar to this. I did a search and this thread came up.

If this isn't your problem try some more searches.

Well, unfortunately that did not work. I tried it twice. Passengner, rear passenger, rear driver side, all down halfway then back up to top and held for 3 seconds.

Any other suggestions?

The corresponding window cluster buttons are flashing if that means anything.

If it wasn't for the fact that the lights are blinking, I would swear that the window lock button is engaged. Maybe it's stuck. Try pushing it sharply a couple times.

I thought the window lock only prevents passengers from working their windows… Would that prevent from the driver from working the windows as well?

Well on my car (2007) if the window lock button is engaged, only the driver's window will work. None of the other windows can be operated from any switch. This could vary in other model years.

You are correct about that.

So I got the back windows to function properly from the driver's seat, so I think I have the timing down to re-initialize the windows. However, the front passenger window will still not go down from driver controls. Should I keep trying the reset or is this a different issue?

I really appreciate your help guys.

Learning a lot each day on here.

That is strange that the rear windows are working now and the front passenger is not. I guess you could try initializing them again. Maybe you have to do it once for each window.

Beyond that I guess you would have to have a dealer look at it. One other possibility is to take it to a good auto body shop and see what they say. They frequently have to deal with these types of issues.
