Default I fixed the ticking in my LS460L

I replaced all the parts of the LS460L with all the parts from a used LS430.

I'm sure you lost a lot of torque and horsepower in the process.

I have driven a few LS 430 and although they are nice I don't see the big deal with the LS 460s faint ticking sound at idle that would want me to run towards a used LS430. Unless of course you got a 460 lemon.

Ticking sounds are a major topic on every car and motorcycle forum I've been on since 1998. I think many owners worry about it because they don't know exactly what's making the sound(s) or their significance. Certainly there are "ticks" that do indicate a problem on some motorcycles and cars but far more often these "ticks" are harmless. Lots of stuff moving around in there containing and transferring significant forces at high speeds.

Everybody who obsesses over these "ticks" should spend a few decades in the service bizz. You would learn that sounds indicating real actual problems are generally loud and obvious.

He's just teasing you guys. He sold his 460 for a 430. It is true that the 430 is a better built car. I like the 460's a lot but considering the cost of repairs and the amount of problems I'm glad a choose a 430.

Don't get my wrong, it is still a great car. Just make sure to have a warranty. No wonder you can pick up a 750 for cheap. Horrible reliability.

I wouldn't call it teasing as much as it is gloating. At the end of the day it's his opinion not necessarily fact for all other LS460 owners.

The 460 was a Lexus major redesign and departure from the 400-430 so both cars will be different and there will be some trade offs.
There is no denying that some people have problems with the initial release of this car but I think Lexus has sorted out many of the issues and has since refined this model to perfection.
I also feel that the engine and transmission in the 460 will go beyond the 430s in terms of longevity and maintenance. It's not like this is the Obama care website.

I'm sure there are 430 owner out there that are equally happy with the LS460 upgrade.
