Default Chirp Squelling sound! What is wrong with my 2001 LS430

I just had my 50,000 mile service done about 1 month and a half ago. I noticed after having this service done a chirping or squelling type of sound from under the hood. I'm completely car ignorant when it comes to prooblems so exact location i can't call. Can anyone who has had a 2001 LS430 or 2001 -2003 LS430 tell me if they had this problem. I think i remember on the LS section of this site in the forum someone posting "chirp chirp sound" to describe the problem they were having with there car. And can not driving your car on a regular basis cause the car to make any noises. For the last month i haven't drien more than 200 miles total and have mostly driven from my home to the city post office about 6 miles from my home. Could it be the engine isn't being ran enough. Also i noticed 3 times when i start my car it revs-up high than settles back down. It doen't cut of though. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.

sounds like the accessory belt is worn out... if you want to be sure, start the car up and listen for the noise, if its there, turn it off, then spray a small amount of wd40 onto the belt itself, then restart the car, if the noise is gone, then the belt should be replaced...

If you pop the hood, look in between the gray engine cover, and the black air cleaner extention housing (looking from the top..) you will see one belt, or at least part of it. its best seen looking from the drive side of the car. i wish i could give a better description, but i just got off work.. and im about to pass out

Thumbs up chirp chirp

Thank you for all the help Camaro, Do you know why i'm getting high revs from my engine about 10-15 seconds after starting my car(cold starts only) in the morning or late afternoon. I don't drive my car alot ,and as of late very rarely do i drive it. Today i drove it and really pushed it on the interstate, only going up to 65 mph in a 60 mph zone, i say pushed it because for me that is pushing it speed wise. The chirp chirp sound dissapeared when i got home and listened to it. If it returns tommorrow maybe its me not driving it alot. Im most concerned with the hi-reving the car is doing after cold starts when car hasn't been driven. It doesn't rev-up when the car has warmed up at all only on cold starts. Thanks again Camaro for your help. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.

The high rev on cold starts is normal. The engine runs slightly higher until it warms up and then it runs a lower RPM, do not worry about it at all. As far as the chirp, I would suggest getting the belt looked at under the hood for wear and slippage. Best of luck.
