Howdy all,

I'm driving a 2001 LS430 now and plan to buy a late-model 460 next year. I've been lurking here for a year or two and have learned a great deal from all of you about the 460.

What I'd like to be schooled on now is warranties.

I've read posts here with bits and pieces of advice on after-market warranties and wondered if someone could direct to a thread, or another site, that could serve as a primer on warranties appropriate for the 460.

A sample question: I use a great local garage for my 430. How does a warranty work for an independent mechanic? Does he bill the warranty company? Do I pay him and then bill the warranty outfit?

You get the idea. I've never had an aftermarket warranty, will want one on my 460 and have lots of questions.

Back when I had my 2005 ls my mechanic called the warranty company directly, and was paid directly they even paid towing. No cash out of pocket by me,
