Default Question regarding trunk space

Whats good CL?

I've been following in this forum for quite some time but have not made any posts or even signed up for that matter due to me not having an LS yet.... I just purchased my 2010 LS 460L a few days ago and I am ready to buy her some new shoes....

I was wondering if the stock wheels will fit in the trunk. I am looking to get some 22's this saturday and am hoping that they will fit in the trunk... If not, i guess a garbage bag will suffice to put them in the back seats for an hour ride back to the house.

Also, what do yall think about 22 (10.5 in the rear and 9 in the front)? Is 11 and 9.5 more suffice? What are your opinions?

Thanks in advance and excited and proud to finally be posting here as an owner

Youll probably have to wrap them in bags and put two of them in the back seat. We'll need some additional info on the new wheels you are wanting to get. What wheels are you planning on getting as we'll as offsets? What suspension mods are you planning?

I'd like to keep my suspension stock. My driveway is pretty steep. I do not want to ride on rubberbands so 35 series would be the lowest I'd like to go.

I'm thinking 265-40-22,285-35-22.... but this is the first big wheel i've ever had... biggest wheels i had were the stock 20's on my 06 saleen....

I am open to suggestions because this is all new to me... Someone had told me that I need a bigger series up front and that didn't sound right to me... meaning 35 series in the back 40 up front.... all help/advice would be greatly appreciated in this arena. Tired of looking at stock wheels

you can check the wheel and tire sticky and see what set up different members are running and i'm sure you'll decide what you want in no time.

2 in trunk, 2 in back seat. If you find a good source of garbage bags for tires, please post. A local Ford dealership has the perfect bags (58" x 42"), but they won't tell me where they get them! If you can't find bags, just take one or more large cardboard boxes apart; make sure the cardboard protects both the seat bottom and the seat back, and you'll have no problems.

Please refer to the wheel and tire info sticky thread in my signature below for all your fitment questions with real life examples..at least 30 posts with pics. It is one of the first threads at the top of the 460/600 forum

No..you cannot fit those in the trunk. I was able to load 22s without boxes in my hybrid 600 with no trunk space on the back seat and behind front seats with one tire in trunk and three on top of wheels in back seat..use sheets of course. Get large hefty bags after you install 22s for your stocks and they will fit two two on each side of back seat with wheel faces facing to rear of car so they dont slam forward

CJITTY himself.... Saw a few of your youtube videos in my quest for wheels... Didn't know u were big kahuna here. Good shi!t. I looked through that thread and it was info overload, that's why I asked for opinions. I think I'll just stick to the 22's 10.5 and 9.0 with ,265-40-22,285-35-22 for a beginner set and when I'm ready, I'll buy a new set. Just sick of looking at these stock wheels. Thanks everyone, I will go back through that thread one more time

your thread has now been blessed!! CJITTY is my personal hero....

we use painters plastic wrap at the shop (bags always seem to tear) get the heavy stuff we trim it with a razor and wrap with blue painters tape or (zebra duct tape lmao ) which evers closer..

you can get a small roll of the plastic wrap at home depot for a few bucks...

and Welcome to CL.. post pics when you get the wheels..

Hello yes..tis is I. But if you look at everyone's tire specs in that thread you will realize that nobody is running those sizes you mentioned. The info is all there just take your time and look at the specs. Standard setup is 255/30/22 front and 295/25/22 rear or my recommendation is 255/30 and 305/25 combo. That thread was setup to provide the most basic information when it comes to tire and wheel info. It is real life examples including feedback of rubbing or other issues people face..just read through it slowly and I promise you will be better off armed with the knowledge required to get a new setup..good luck.. please don't get some off setup and come back on here frustrated asking for help. .we will all say we told you so

I think you need to do some research. You might run into rubbing issues depending on the offset. With that wide and tall of a tire you'll either rub the upper control arms or fender if the offset isn't spot on.

Like I mentioned above..not the proper combo at all. Not sure where the OP got those specs but nobody is running that on an LS

yea... I ended up going 255/30/22 front and 295/25/22 rear... I was just hopeful to get a bigger size tire so I wouldn't have to worry about a rough ride... runs really well imo..... and I put 2 wheels in the trunk and 2 in the back seat.... now on to suspension.... Can't deal with the wheel gap. any advice? coil overs vs air? i'll go searching through the forums now but if anybody has good advice, my ears are open... thanks again

I would of gone 305/25 rear but you are sti money on that setup. I would say if you can afford air..do that. Plenty of threads to search and review on that topic. LBINTAB just recently installed a nice air setup on his LWB..he can share some insight

If you're question to go air or coils you probably want to go air but know its thousands more expensive than coils so you settle for coils. Not to say that's everyone but I have a feeling that's the case for a lot of people. I say go air. I say go with airrunner but there are plenty of people who will suggest cheaper options. I also suggest elevel. In the end you'll be in it for about 8k in parts and labor. But you figure you're messing with a 80-90k car. 5-8k is what anyone with air spent regardless of model car. Just don't be sticker shocked for quality.
