I just got the rubber insert from the Lexus dealer (driver's side) but haven't been able to get the rubber blade out of the assemble. The threads that I have read describe sliding out the metal rods after grabbing with pliers but they don't seem to slide out in either direction. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

Whoa! What are you going at with pliers? No pliers, no pliers, no pliers.

Look at the wiper blade assembly after you've removed it from the car. The rubber insert can only slide out of the holder in one direction. Use both hands to "help" slide it out a little bit at a time. Then, once it's out, take out the metal rods, put them into the new rubber blade, slide it back into the holder in the reverse direction you took it out, reinstall the assembly and voila! Good luck.

 

Thanks - after a bit of fiddling I got the rubber out and then the rest was easy. I don't know why the posts that O read all suggested grabbing the metal and sliding it out..
