Default Consumer Reports Black Dot for Major Engine problems on 07-08 LS

Just got my 2013 Consumer Reports annual issue and they give the 2007/2008 LS460 a black dot for Major Engine problems. Also a solid black dot for Audio system. What problems might they be referring to?

There's a recall on the lifters i think. Most everyone has had it done. Just have to make sure the service records say it and it's good.

+2. Amp and VSR.

I was chatting with a tech from a local dealer and he asked about my audio. I told him the 6x9s were changed and I had an aftermarket sub. He mentioned that the ML system is being driven too hard from factory. He said its too many speakers for that amp and thats why the amp has a tendency to fail. He said that what I did was probably the best way to keep my amps life up. Im running the 6x9s at 8ohm where the factory supposedly runs them at 2 and I eliminated the sub which is also at 2ohms.

305Busa, may I ask what speakers you use now? I am considering getting an aftermarket subwoofer and 6x9s for the front door.

Thanks!

Here are the 2 write ups I did when I did my system. The only thing that has changed since the original sub install was the fact that I covered where the amps are to keep the the trunk looking a bit more stock when you glance in.

Thank you. I also met Damion (Shibumi) today. I'll be making some tweaks soon.

Wow, I must have been the lucky guy because besides the normal recalls (valve spring and wind noise) my 2007 LS-460 has been absolutely problem free. What a great car, I have no complaints whatsoever.

Same here. Well, I had a problem when I first got the car but it turned out to be a problem caused by the dealer when they did the VSR on it. If not for that, it wouldve been problem free.

Me too on my '08.
I just wish they'd gone to Garmin and learn how to make a Nav unit that was user friendly.
