Why go to the dealer? They will charge a total of almost double what an independent place will charge.

I just called the dealer and they said its a small battery and a big one only $25 difference, but I can put it in myself!

Wally World do a great battery-that you can put in yourself. Comes with 3 year no hassle warranty-in a hot climate where I live, that's a real deal and its only $85.00.

Bear in mind that a battery light doesn't necessarily mean you need a new battery, it indicates a problem with the charging system.

I received a courtesy light so I would assume its time to change the battery because my car is going in 4 yrs old, most would last five. I paid $105 from the dealer!

yeah that's is what I saying a charging system light would something critical and problem trigger a red light. but 105 from the dealer is the way to go, here is to another four years, quick question when you changed your battery did you lose anything???? or what did you lose as far as presets and etc.

I actually paid $87 bucks for it, lexus gives you $30 for the old one. I didnt lose anything just resetting the navigation, no radio code. I went thoroughly thru the manual and didnt mention nothin at all about codes. I advice when you disconnect the battery start with the negative and when putting the new one connect the positive first!! Thumbs up on everything!

I was watching Motorweek a couple weeks ago and they talked about some devices that you can connect to the battery terminals or the cigarette lighter before you disconnect it so that you maintained power to the various car systems. I didn't pay close attention at the time. Has any one used something like this? Any recommendations?

I have used one. It's basically a 9VDC rectangular battery connected to the cigarette lighter. I used it often to mess with my smart car.

So you paid 57 then? What do I have to say to get 30 for the old one?

I think he's saying he paid $105 - $30 (core) + sales tax + other fees = $87.00
