Does anyone else's car lurch forward?
I back out of the garage or a parking space and go from Reverse to Neutral to Drive and the car lunges forward. Is this a problem? I've not experienced it on any other car.

I seem to recall a thread about this some time ago. Maybe someone will remember, or you can try doing some searches.

is the car cold. It may feel like its jumping forward slightly because of the higher rpm associated with cold starts. Does it do it when the car is warm . Lets say after leaving a store after shopping and the car is still warm?

Glad to see this question because mine does the same thing....if I'm stopped at a light and take my foot off the brake, the car jumps like the gas pedal is already being pressed.
To compound that, when I'm stopping, it's like the engine doesn't want to come to a stop so I have to brake a little harder than I'd think because it's like it wants to keep going...if that makes sense.

If the car is cold and you have the AC set (its already in the 90s out here) the car will do this . I usually give the car a minute to warm up. I rarely ever just start the car and drop it into drive and take off. Well maybe wit the loaner cars if Im late.

Mafitch and 09LS460, when cold what do your tachs read at idle in park or neutral? It sounds like your engine idle speed may be too high.

To be clear, I do not have the problem when pulling away from a stop, only when shifting out of reverse, into neutral and then into drive.
My vehicle idles at about 1500rpm for about 30 seconds, 1250 for the next minute and a half, and then it settles down to about 900rpm.
Further thoughts? I think the seat cooler for the back of the drivers side is out so it needs to go in anyway....

My car tends to jump a bit when cold as well but I started letting it settle before driving it. Mines idles at around 6-700 though. There was a thread as well though and I kept in touch with the guy about his car jumping forward. Got so bad that his car actually jumped and damaged something in his garage. I'll see if I can find either his name or post.

When I start my car, it's about 12-1300 RPM's for a minute or two then does settle down around 7-900.
The issue for me has been 2 fold. Even after warming up for a few minutes, I can take my foot off the brake and without giving it any gas get going (and consistently stay moving) at about 6-7MPH. Maybe this is the norm for a V8 and it's just wanting to go, but it seems to affect braking.
When I'm going to brake, I hear/feel my ABS system kicking in even if moving under 5 MPH (think moving up at a stop sign). ABS may not be the right word, but I can hear/feel clicking going on in the front end when trying to stop the car. It's not all the time, but it's consistent to the point that I feel that when I'm braking from faster speeds, coming to a stop isn't butter smooth and feels like the engine/transmission have other thoughts on whether the brake pedal actually means it. It will slow down and stop, but the transition from gears 3-2-1 are jumpy, comparative to a smooth winding down like I'm feeling in the RX350 loaner (yuck) that I'm currently driving......
