Default Remote not working...rarely used

I have a 2008 LS460 and I just happened to try to use my "other" remote and it doesnt work at all....nothing -- totally dead. It has rarely if ever been used since I have been using the other remote from day one. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? If its never been used could it be the battery? At a quick glance, I cant even figure out how to replace the battery...LOL. Any insight and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Instructions for replacing the battery are here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/4925593-post2.html

The batteries fail in about two years in these devices whether they are used or not - it has to do with the technology that is employed to allow you to open the doors while the remote is in your pocket or purse.

If you have a deeper interest, check the discussion here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...he-remote.html
