Need Your Help Before I Confront Dealer

Back in the beginning of May this year I had the valve spring replacement done. At the same time I had them upgrade the nav system as I had the original that came with my '07 and I wanted to get rid of the "I Agree" task. It never dawned on me to check the version until I was reading a couple of new nav update threads here.

Well I just checked the version and my screen reads - ver.09.1

On my copy of the invoice, the item reads - 1 PT219 - HDDG5 - 10 GEN 5 HDD NAV

I searched some old threads here and it appears that there was a 10.1 version available well before May of this year. Based on what I see, it looks like they loaded an old version.

Before I go to the dealer on this I want to be sure I know what I'm talking about (there's a first). Am I looking at this correctly? Could it be he was just selling an old version that he was stuck with?

BTW, this dealer is the one a new member here complained was reneging on their promise of a full set of service manuals.

yes, correct. i am pretty sure 10.1 came out oct last year and i believe it's going into 11.1 soon (if my memory is still functioning)

from what i was told, dealership is given a dvd for the map data every year (more like they have to buy it), and then every time there is a car with hdd, they need to order the usb drive (the key code) and then transfer the data from the dvd map to the car.

so it seems like either they used the wrong dvd to transfer 9.1 to you, or they simply never bought the 10.1. either way, if you did it in may, it should have been 10.1

Yes, I'm wondering if they ever bought it.

I would be curious if anyone who had the 10.1 upgrade done has their invoice and can check if it reads the same as mine - 1 PT219 - HDDG5 - 10 GEN 5 HDD NAV

I had mine done back in Jan, the Nav version is 10.1 and Henry is correct 11.1 is out now.

Per your request

Total if I had to pay for it

Paid for by Lexus ($500 gift card)

I would def call them out on what you discovered, also fire off a email or call Lexus customer service ( just in case they give you static) It will be documented and they will be aware of the issue.

Wow, thanks Tee! I didn't expect to actually see the invoice.

That reads exactly like mine. Now assume when you press the "MENU" button and then "HDD" on the screen, your version reads - ver.10.1 correct?

Your assumption is correct!

Perfect, thanks again! Now I know I am right when I talk to the dealership.

I read in another thread that a member called his dealer the other day and they told him they didn't have 11.1 yet. I may wait until I see that version is available. Since I am going to insist that the dealership fixes this, I might well get the latest version.

Before you go in, try calling the Service or Parts Department at the dealership and ask if they have 11.1 yet. Good luck.

Boy, they're at it again, aren't they...

11.1 is officially out (see the link below), so yes, you might as well ask them for what you paid for: the most recent update. Good luck!

Good luck on this.

And I was planning on choosing the same dealership to be my "servicing" dealer.

It appears many of us wish you well, as their actions might affect several LS owners and the expendable dollars.

Mikey,

Nospinzone is not talking about Hennessy Lexus here in GA, he talking about a dealer in his state. I had great customer service from Hennessy, they have always taken good care all of my cars so give them a shot.

Update: I just spoke with the Service Manager. Apparently he is like some salepersons in that he doesn't have a working knowledge of his own product. I explained the situation and he said he didn't know if the 10.1 version was available in May, 2011.

He said he would look into it and get back to me tomorrow. He did say he would fix it to my satisfaction. I talked to the Parts Dept. and they do have the 11.1 version. That will be my satisfaction.

Mikey, I was reading your post and wondering if you're moving to Massachusetts!
