Default 60,000 mile servicing

I just had the 60,0000 mile servicing for my LS600hL

For some reason, replacing the platinum spark plugs at 60,000 miles is specified for the 600hL, while for other models, they're good for 120,000 or 90,000 miles.

Anyone have any idea why?

Well this is just a SWAG, but maybe the constant on and off of the engine as it switches to battery power causes more stress or deposits on the plugs.

Either that or Lexus figures if you can afford to own that car, you can afford to pony up the extra money to change the plugs more frequently!

It has to do with the direct injection fuel system and the process of eliminating carbon build up. Its also required on the newer GS's & IS's also.
