Default 19' 20' wheels on LS460

One last thread for the day guys ......

I had considered getting non-factory wheels for the 460, however in the door panel, it specifically states to not put any tires over 18' on the car.

Can anyone help regarding this. Will it harm the car in any way?

Do you have a picture? Odd b/c some LS's have 19" wheels from the factory. Tons of members run 19/20/22" wheel/tire combos here with no issues.

We have tons of owners on Vossen 20s and 22s.

bigger rims just decrease the tire height as long as you stay in that region you should be fine.

Thanks guys for the help. My son [ LS460 ] is black with limo tint in NJ. I think I am going to leave the factory alloys on the car. It already sticks out ...... I don't feel like giivng the cops another reason to pull me over for my windows.

A slightly old thread here, but for what it's worth... Just today, I learned something that is very relevant to this (and interesting).

The Diagnostic Specialist at the dealership and I were talking about steering racks, tires, wheels, etc. My car will be getting a new steering rack (different story), and he mentioned that there is a different part number for the steering rack on an 18" car vis-a-vis a 19". He suspected that would be the case and then verified it and showed me.

I am very intrigued... I haven't done any math yet to look at the geometry of 19" wheels and tires relative to the 18"s in terms of how far they reach into the wheel well when turned, and so on, but geometry does seem to be the main differentiator that comes to mind. I mean, otherwise, why would there be different steering racks?

New steering rack?? Cool. I know you have been through hell trying to get this vibration issue resolved with your car. What did they replace on your car so far.

I would recommend 3M for the tint or if you want the really good stuff for the heat I would go with Huber Optic. Amazing stuff. For wheels I like Vossen but it depends on your taste in wheels. They make great wheels and they stand behind their products like no other wheel company I have ever heard of
