Default Tire recommendation ?

I've just purchased and 08 Ls460 with Dunlop Sport MAXX 235/50/18 tires. They offer terrible hydroplaning on wet conditions and the ride and quiteness leaves abit to be desired. I've been doing some research and can't come up with a good viable option. My primary interest is ride quality, quietness and tread life. Any input would be of value.

I just put some Continental Extreme Contact DWS's on my '08 a few hundred miles ago and love them. Rides like a whole new car. They come with 5/16" tread. I've been in some slushy conditions (it's still snowing 40 miles West of here ;-) and while I imagine they 'could' hydroplane if I went looking for it, they seem to stay planted. Besides the footprint is too wide for it 'not' to hydroplane, no matter the tread.

I put a set of Michelin Primacy MXM4 AS tires on my car about 7K miles ago and really like them. They have great wet/dry traction and are pretty quiet. Haven't driven them in light snow yet (I drive to the Northeast a few times a year) so I can't comment on that. I bought them through Tire Rack and had my dealer install them Pretty highly rated on Tire Rack. They aren't cheap by any means but I really like them so far.

I was particularly interested in this tire but was told they don't make it in 235/50/18 which is the stock size for my car. Did you modify this size?

I have the LS Sport which came with 245/45-19's. I didn't realize that Michelin didn't make the tire in 235/50-18.

A month ago I put Pirelli P Zero Nero tires on. They were top rated in the last two tests done by Tire Rack, and Consumer Reports gave them a top rating as well.

So far I am very happy with them. If I shut off the radio and listen carefully, I can detect that they are slightly noisier than the original Turanzas, but then I never have the radio off anyway.
