Default Need some help

I am in the process of installing an overhead flip down DVD player in my 07 LS460L. I've got the mounting figured out but I'm having some trouble with the wiring. Does anyone have any instructions on how to drop the headliner enough to be able to run wiring above it?? I figured out the B-pillar covers but can't even budge the C-pillar covers. The audio shop told me to just tie into the dome light wiring, but I'm not convinced that this circuit is capable of handling the additional load. Especially considdering the wire doesn't seem to be much more that 22 awg. Also, I want to run the audio output through the auxillary input in the center console. So even if I did decide to power off the dome light, I still need to be able to run wires form the headliner to the console.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to have to dangle wires down from the unit and plug into the cigarette lighter.

Thanks,

Will

Will, goto home d-pot and pick up a 36" cable tie (cut the fastener head off) then tape your wires to it about 8" from the end.. then fish the cable tie thru the headliner from the overhead console towards the b pillar (make sure to pull the door sill seals to gain better access)once you've fed it thru .. run it down the b pillar.. pull the lower door sill plates.. towards the front then either goto the footwell area or go directly under carpet to center console an tie into cig lighter wires under console

Thanks so much.

I've got one of those so I will do that. Once I get to the B-Pillar do I go over or under the airbag with my wires. I would think that if I go under it then the wires would impede the airbag's ability to fully deploy. In trying to go over it, it seems to be very tight to the ceiling and I don't want to damage it trying to pull it down enough to clear the wires.

Thoughts??

If at all possible i'd try to go over it.. but try as close to the center of the b pillar.. if not there u may need to head towards the (oh isht handle) there maybe some room near there... jus be as delicate as possible...

i'd take the handles off first to gain more clearance...
if you pop off the plastic tabs off each end, you'll see the metal tabs that hold them in place...
here's what it looks like under the liner and pillar for reference:

Thanks for all the help folks. Took me about 8 hours total, but now that I've done it once, I'm sure I could do it again in less than 1/2 of that. Most of my time was spent figuring out how to mount the bracket and then how to get the wires where they weren't in the way of the sun roof visor. Also, figuring out the dome light wiring took me a couple of minutes. Anyway, all in all I'm glad that I did it myself. These things sure are put together well.

Well here are some pics of the results. Not the best resolution but hopefully they'll suffice. Let me know what you think.
