Default LS460 got burned?

My cousin's 2008 LS460 got burned while idle today, I have no details (about how it happened exactly, and what he'll gonna do) but WTF? Glad everyone is okay.

What's wrong with the 2008? I have pictures, will post soon.

That is not pretty at all. Sure wish we knew what caused that.

was it running or parked?

running I would guess fuel leak, but hard to say

parked, more likely an electrical fire. There is enough combustible plastic under the hood to cause this kind of damage, also did your cousin have any mods to this car, for example did he upgrade his stereo and have new wiring running from the battery area?

No mods at all.

Ok I called him, he said that he was driving and smelled something wrong, he thought it was the diesel car in front of him all the time, he parked near to his friend's house, the smell is still there, and then black smoke came out, and burned the **** out of the car!

He told me there was some recall about the engine, and the dealership got it "fixed". So I'm guessing it's the dealer's fault.

Sorry for your relative's car. Hope it's insured.

He should contact Lexus to have it inspected. The cause should be determined so if something needs to be fixed they fix it.

Are those the 19" rims, does he want to trade/sell them?

Very sad. My bet, however, is that this is not some sort of systematic failure due to a design problem, although the media would probably like to create one. But probably this is, due, rather, to some sort of isolated thing that happened due to a service/repair error.
