Ls460 Questions
I've had my heart set on a GS350 as my next car for quite a while but then I started checking out the LS460s and figured it might be worth spending a little extra for one.
What should I look for when buying one of these? How do I know without asking the dealer if the rear seats have the reclining option? Is there anything the 2007 models have or dont have that the 2008 models do? Do they all come with the crash detection/cruise control sensing/lane detection? Heated steering wheel? Hard disk drive in the NAV?
If i buy one, itll regrettably be higher mileage as I'm trying to stay around $30,000 so I suppose my last question would be, what would you buy? A GS350 with 40,000 miles or an LS460 with 60-70,000 miles? Is there any reason I should steer away from a higher mileage LS?
Thanks!

I suggest you buy the LS460, it's better for both driver and passengers. Since the GSs are sport sedans, the incline of the rear seats is so much uncomfortable. About the higher mileage, it's not a matter to Japanese cars, the quality doesn't go down much between those miles mentioned above, just be sure the LS is well-checked before depositing.
For the option, the 2007 and 2008 are almost the same, nothing more nothing less. The Hard Disk Drive (HDD) comes with the Mark Levinson sound system, or you can find "Gracenote", which is the company that supplies HDD for Lexus. Here it is:

For the crash detection or lane keeping, American LS460s weren't not equipped until the facelifted versions are made.
For the reclining seats, here is the picture of the maximum option the LS460s can have, LS460L has 3 buttons more, the one with the azure rectangle is the button for reclining. The AWDs are equipped with air suspensions.

The Pre-Collision system was an available option in 2007 models. However, they are rare in any snowbelt states as Lexus did not ship any program cars with that option to those states. It does not include lane detection.
I bought a GS and then had a ride a few months later in my neighbors LS.. traded up and never looked back. They are leagues apart in terms of ride, quietness and comfort. The LS was exactly what I was looking for and I am passionate about my car once again.
