Default NEED HELP: car won't recognize remote

Ok guys I'm at a event and have about 2 hours to hopefully fix this. I pulled up went to lock my car using remote and didn't respond. Had a friend drive to get a replacement battery for the remote. Installed and didn't work. Called Lexus roadside they had my pop off the door cap to get in using the manual key. They had me touch my remote to the start button and it started. Now I'm scared to leave and the car say key not recognized and shut off my car while on the road. I'm a good 50 miles from home. My question is will the car get me home an what could be up with the remote. Any answers are extremely appreciated. Thx Rudy

The key will always work up next to the start button. you may not be able to lock or unlock the doors if the battery is weak, I have had two instances where I bought new and they were no good either.. Radio Shack inventory.. I now only buy high quality Panasonic on line and just keep about 6 in stock.

once it starts it wont shut off until you physically turn it off so your good there.

I would test the "new" battery when you get home if you have a volt meter, it may just be old inventory and then your good to go with a new fresh one, I hope that is the case

^+1. You can lock the car with the key manually. It's just the battery of your remote is drained. Replace with a good one and you're set. Like cmasten said, you can always start the car with the remote held close to the start button.

to be sure it is a battery issue (which it prob is), toyota has the battery real cheap and will even install it for you for less than $3 for everything, at least here in ATL they will. They also have that tester that shows if the remote battery power is below acceptable level.

I have this happen to me only at my mother-in-law's house. The remote just doesn't work and I need to place it near the starter to get the car to start. At first, I thought it was the battery and did replace it. But, it continues to happen every time I go to her house. I can't figure out why. I don't have the problem anywhere else.

And, yes, I get along well with my mother-in-law.
