OK, my new LS has a slight problem with the windshield. It looks like there was some writing on the windshield (directly in front of the driver, of course) that they didn't clean off completely before the applied the repellant or whatever coating they put on the windshield. So in the rain or when the windows fog up, I see this writing all over the windshield (like writing with your finger on the bathroom mirror when it's all steamed up). It's not so bad during the day, but at night it's pretty distracting. I tried cleaning it myself with a towel, but no luck.
I'm taking it to the dealer Mondy for my 30 day service, but I'm wondering whether I should tell them about it or fix it myself. Anyone know what kind of sealent/repellant they put on these things when they prep them? Can it be stripped off and re-applied easily?
If this is on the outside, you can really clean windshields of grime or residue with 0000 grit steel wool. Walmart has it in the hardware section real cheap. I had some overspray on my windshield and it took that mess right off real easy without scratching window. No need to scrub hard, just lightly work the wool while using Stoner Invisible Glass cleaner at the same time. Try the Invisible Glass first..if that don't work, use the wool. I'm not sure if we have any coating on the inside of glass, but I have never used the wool on the inside glass, just on outside..good luck
I remember seeing a thread a year ago or so about s similar issue but with back window, not windshield. I think someone suggested using the WAX to take it off. Didn't you just buy this car a few weeks ago? If that's the case, I would simply have the dealer take care of it.

Yes, 5 weeks and 4,400 miles ago. My only hesitation is that the last time I had a dealer take care of a window problem (my 430), they waxed the side windows and then everytime I rolled down the windows, they came up with a haze on them. I will probably have them take care of it, but be very specific about not touching anything but the windshield.
