Greetings to all. I’m new to both this forum and to Lexus. After 35 straight years of driving sports cars, it’s time for a change. I want a luxury sedan, and after researching & test driving the field, it became clear that the LS460 is the class of the field, especially for the money.

So… I need your advice…
• What options are must haves?
• What options are must avoids?
• What options are nice to have’s but may not be worth the money?

Welcome to the forum!

While most here would probably say the ML is a must have, really only you can answer that question. For me the Pre-Collision System was a must have, but its a fairly rare option.

I don't think there are any options to avoid.

If you ever suspect that a Lexus option is overpriced, just go to the Porche site and look at the prices for the options on the Panamera (not to mention everything on that car is an option).

The ML was high on my list. I really enjoy good music and I've heard many good things about that system.

The Pre-Collision feature seemed like a good investment to me too.

I found out about costly options when exploring Mercedes. Nearly everything is an option with M-B... and over-priced. I'm surprised they don't list tires as an option.

Must haves: ML, door closers (standard?), air suspension (standard on the sport model)

Somewhat good to have: Comfort plus pkg, PCS

Useless stuff: auto park

After reading a couple of active threads here, depending on where you live, AWD might be important.

In Canada the only real option is the technology package. It is a must. Air suspenson is also a must I believe and is included for the LS460 SWB AWD.

Were you planning on buying used or brand spanking new?

Opps... "Senior Moment"... a 2011.

I've had trouble getting a straight answer from my salesman on whether Air Suspension is available on any model other than Sport. He said the difference it provides is hardly noticeable anyway. Sounds like it may be a better option than he implies and I should press him more to find out if I can get it on a LS460 RWD SWB.

Only 460s with air suspension are AWD, Sport, and LWB cars I believe.

Must have!
ML, huge difference, plus DVD to play comes with it so it's a must have!
Air Ride Height Package also a must! Especially if you intend to use aftermarket wheels!
LWB! Talk about comfort! It's a Luxury car! HUGE difference in leg room! A Must!

Auto Park is nice to have, but you'll probably never use it! But is standard in most of the FlagShips out there!

Good Luck and keep us posted of your new X-Mas present purchase!

This has been very helpful so far.
Thanks for the great advice.
I plan on placing my order the last week of December.

Has anyone purchased a 2011 yet?
If so, how was the pricing?

The auto park feature is an absolute must. You will never use it in practice, but it is so entertaining to demo for your friends and all the kids in the neighborhood. Its only a couple hundred bucks and you can't take your family to a ball game for that price!
