LS 460 won't turn on? Please help!
Last night I drove from Orlando to Miami which is roughly a 250 mile trip. I stopped by at a friends place and met him downstairs of his building for a few minutes. I then got back into the LS and tried to turn it on to no avail. All the lights in the car turned on and even the radio played / AC worked, but the car would not turn on. It sounded like the battery was completely dead when I tried to turn it on (it would make a loud clicking sound) which I thought was a dead battery BUT ALL the lights and electronics were working perfectly--just engine not starting.
We proceeded to jump the car and finally the engine turned on. Weird thing was that the touch screen was blank and after a few minutes it turned on. It showed a picture of a hard disk and said "loading" for a few minutes and then went back to normal. The car drove just fine (though I only drove it a few miles home). When I tried backing the car into the garage (I figured it would need a jump again) I noticed that the auto-park function was completely not available as it said "initializing" on the screen.
This morning the car turned on just fine--I still used my SC anyway. This makes me think that the battery is fine? I noticed that when I tried using the auto-park function it still said "initializing"...
I really need this car to be reliable this week because of interviews and I already traded it out for my SC but I have to go back to Orlando this week with a few people and use this car. I don't understand that after three hours the car would have difficultly starting up unless the battery is dead and if that's the case why would it start up this morning after the car was not in use? To many electronics scare me but our cars should be known for reliability...
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Also the car is a 2007 LS bought last year CPO. I called Lexus Roadside assistance last night and asked if they could spare me a battery (as they are replaced under CPO) and they said that would be service that only dealers would provide so I had to wait until the morning. All they said they would do is jump my car in the morning or if I needed a new battery they could have AAA come by...

I'm pretty sure it is the battery also, my car was acting real funny..seemed like it took two or three times pushing on the button to start it, then the other day I got some VSC and ABS errors..its been at the dealer for a few days now..they def said they will put a new battery in it and replacing some other stuff that might be wrong. I don't know exactly what the final report is yet, still waiting on when it will be ready. I'm under warranty still, so just grateful for that
well, my svc advisor told me that some type of hydraulic something failed with the braking system, he didn't give me the specific part name, he was in a real rush. my car was unsafe to drive because right after the warning lights came on, the brake pedal got real tight and when i went to brake the whole car jerked toward the left as only one side of the car was braking and the front left wheel locked up completely. The car computer almost seemed like it went into "limp mode", not the normal acceleration, but i didn't want to go to fast because my brakes were toast! Got it home, lucikly I was close to my house..called 24/7 roadside and they had a flatbed there in less than 20 mins to take it right to the dealership, way unsafe to drive. It's been there for a few days, I may go by there on my way home from work to see whats up. Sorry, wasn't trying to hijack, but my little issue of car not wanting to start easily has ballooned into a major issue and I am so grateful this happened while under warranty. I am eager to find out what exactly what Failblog'd.org..I can't imagine a weak battery could lead to all of this, but who knows..these cars nowadays are just sensitive like Ralph Tresvant
..I had a similar experience w/ my 2007 SWB when the battery discharged ..hadn't driven for about 30 days or so last winter . Car was in somewhat heated garage , but no battery tender ... When I tried to start , dash lights, etc came on but just a click..pushed the button a few more times ..felt the brake petal kick back as I was depressing it ..
After the jump, VSC and brake lights on .. called dealer. Tried a reset by unplugging battery cable..no joy .. Drove car 2 miles to dealer ..brakes were stiff and pulling to the left ...
They recharged and checked the battery, and had to 'bleed the brakes' ..whatever they did was done under warranty and done that day ..No recurrence ..
I guess the moral of the story is 'Do NOT let the battery discharge ' ... I have no theory or explanation of what happened , and didn't get any more of an explanation ..

Well, got my car back and turns out the actual part that failed was the front left caliper. The bleeder valve cap must of came off at some point, didn't get noticed and rust took over the valve and locked up the caliper. They got it all cleaned up, bled lines, fresh fluid and that cleared all the codes and car is back to normal. It's amazing the sequence of events because if that caliper had failed at highway speeds, I'd probably be posting this via hospital bed. So, battery was probably unrelated to what appears to be a more mechanical failure that led to codes being thrown, but, I also truly believe that a weak battery in this car is way more sensitive than a more simple car. They also threw in a new battery for me gratis..love the warranty!!
The second day I had my car, I was in the garage setting up all the gadgets....programming all the radio stations and loading all my bluetooth contacts into the car, setting up the navigation etc. I had the car on accessory. Next thing I go to start the car, the battery is too low. Duh!
Had to call Roadside Assistance to come out and jump the car. After it started up, I was getting that VSC system malfunction message for about half a day, then it finally went away.
