I had the CDDB done last year when the dealership did the navigation update. The technical bulletin indicates both are performed using the Techstream (laptop), they just choose different menu items and the CDDB does not require a code (USB key). It then allows you to listen to the newest CDs and have the album/track names display. If the dealership hasn't already downloaded the latest CDDB data to their Techstream then this must be done prior to them transferring it to your car. In my case it involved me drinking their coffee for another 45 minutes, but no more $'s for the CDDB update.
