Yes, it can only be done by the dealer.

Check your manual for the personalized settings to see what other things you might want to change. The first change is free, after that your dealer will charge you.

Yes only the dealer can do it.

I suggest you try to figure out all the settings you want to be configured in the car and then take it to the dealer and ask them to do them all at once (e.g. running daylight, remote window & moon roof opening/closing, door lock/unlock time, seatbelt buzzer, overspeeding buzzer, safe trunk closing [to prevent locking your wireless key in the trunk]...etc).

I've done so many settings and the car has become more convenient since then.

The dealer can do it, but chances are they won't. This is a touchy issue for dealers. They will claim that there is some stupid law the makes it illegal to turn these off, then when you call a bluff, they will then cite liability issues. At that point you either keep fighting, go to another dealer, or start pulling fuses.

dealer turned mine off the other day for free, no drama from them whatsoever. for some reason i thought I could still manually control the DRL to be on when the light switch was set in the "AUTO" postion, but my DRL doesn't come on at all anymore regardless of switch position, which is just fine by me. once I upgrade the little yellowish parking light bulb to a nice bright LED, thats going to look real nice during that early dusk timeframe known as "park light time"...I'm DRL free now..all good! I do wish i would of thought of getting more of the settings changed, like having the ability to use the remote to bring the windows back up and close sunroof instead of just the ability to open them and not close, at least I think that was an option...oh well..all good

I have had the DRL's turned off on my last three Lexus without much of a problem. The first response is might be something like "we can't do that" but after they think it through they realize there is no U.S. requirement for DRL's and in fact many new cars don't have them. I think the owner's manual might even mention turning them off and there are some cars that allow it as a owner setting. Canada, I think might require DRL's which may be why all north american toyota products have them.

I do the same with my seat belt warning buzzer - have it disabled and it also gets the "we can't do that" first response but it too is mentioned in the owner's manual and it - the warning buzzer - is not a requirement. I've been a big believer in seat belt usage for over 50 years - yes, I am old - but never liked the warning buzzers.

My new GX works that way. My DRL's are only on when the headlight switch is in the auto position. The LS doesn't work that way, I wish it did...
