What is the diff in the oil? I read where the 5w20 is used more during hotter climates. Also, will they void a warranty or not do your servicing if you don't use Ow20?

colder climate should use 0w..
in hotter climate, no BIG difference in 0w or the 5w.. i am guessing you are in NC.. since it snows in the winter there, i would use 0w-20..

They could POSSIBLY void ur warranty if your engine get damaged because of the oil.. but i don't see this happening..
BUT.. i think there is a TSB out for GS/IS 350's engines to ONLY use 0w-20 (or 5w-20) or it could damage the internals..

some dealers didn't even have 0w-20 until recently.. so they've been using 5w-30 in all cars..

They sell the 5w-20 at Costco for like 40 bucks for 6 quarts. I guess I'll check walmart to see what they are selling it for.

0-20 available at Walmart at a good price. You will get slightly better gas milage with this weight.

I have an 08 GS350. The filler cap & manual say 5w30. When did they change to 0/5w20? Is that just for cold climates or all?

Thanks

There was a TSB on the LS 460 to only use 0W20 also. Wal-Mart has Mobil 1 0W20 for about $6 per quart. You will need 9 quarts. You can also go to Toyota and purchase 0W20 Toyota oil, which is Mobil 1 packaged for Toyota. That's what's in my car.

I'm a big Costco fan, but when it comes to oil...

Walmart: 5 Quarts sells for $18. That's 5W-20 Full Synthetic.

The TSB is from 2006 and specifically refers to 06 cars.
They didnt even make the GS350 in 06.
My car is 2 years newer.
If they made a change to 5W-20 in 06, why have they not updated the
oil filler cap 2 years later? the owners manual also specifies 5W-30.
