Default GPS Icon Disappeared

Hi everyone-

Beginning yesterday at noon, the GPS icon on the nav screen (upper left corner) disappeared. Now, the mapping is completely off like it doesn't really know where the car is on the map.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks.

No, not at all. It just happened out of the blue. The gps receiver might have gone bad?

The only time the icon can disappear is when the uplink is lost. It is possible at times the satellites your Navi is using are no lnger providing this link in your area, for whatever reason. When that happens your Navi is using dead reckoning and the compass to find its way. If the time or distance to your destination is still displayed, then your uplink is still live, and your system may merely need to be reset, probably by your dealer.

if the gps wording is gone, it seems like the antenna is "dead" so the system can't track your exact location when needed

Yeah, it's been 4 days and no GPS icon. Car is going in to dealership next Tuesday.

Car is fixed! Apparently, when I had the dash rattle tsib done, they didn't reconnect the gps antenna cable correctly. So, 2 weeks ago, it had fallen off and disconnected the gps uplink. Dealer just reconnected it today and all is well.

Good to hear that it was resolved and wasn't something more serious.
