Here is a picture of my fix. Not the best but hard to see I used a clear sealer. After I finished I was thinking if you seal it with the window down you might be able to get the sealer under the black. You should first try the tape over it and see if you get an improvement.

This product will also help you condition and protect your weather striping. Fantastic stuff. Important to maintain less wind noise.

I'm sure the answer is some where in this thread but I am too lazy to read it all. Can anyone tell me how new (year) an LS460 would have to be before this wind noise problem is not an issue. I have an 04 LS430 Ultra and am thinking about trading up to a LS460 and would like to avoid this problem.

I just bought a 2010 LS460 and I have the wind noise too. I have been asked by passengers do you have a window down. Not sure where is coming from I think it's the mirrors? Dissapointing from company that prides its self on the comfirt and quietness of the LS. So not sure what best fix for 2010. It's only in highways when speeds are over 50mph.

I had a 2006 LS 430 and it was a wonderful car. So bought a 2008 LS460 and it came with the wind noise. I have tried the posted fixes and it is better but not gone. I have the laminated glass.

Please tell us, in a few words, which of the "posted fixes" you have done, or had done, to your car.

I have tried all of the fixes including purchasing the new fined type (my local Lexus dealer charged me 80.00 for them) Used Black RTV everywhere I can think of. Took the car to the dealer and they adjusted the door. Had no effect.

My 2012 has wind noise... still under warranty for 6 months and then it's CPO warranty. Would a dealer fix this under warranty? It's very annoying at 60 + MPH

With the help of Jeff my wind noise is very much diminished. He was good enough to supply me with the patches and i found the silicone he recommended at a local true value. I had bought the newer fin style covers. Followed his DIY.

We have a very very windy day here and it has worked great for me.

The only noise i hear would be the road/tire noise and the occasional loud passing vehicle. All are minor.

Worth the shot to help fix wind noise.

The vast majority of the wind noise issues with these cars is caused by a trim defect on the front doors.

From past indications, it seems unlikely that a Lexus dealer will be willing, or able, to help you with wind noise.

Congratulations on your successful repair, and thank you for sharing your details with our forum.

I think that after you drive your car for a few days you will conclude that the degree of improvement is even greater than you realize now. People become hyper-sensitized to the noise issue and are not able to distinguish the extent of the improvement initially. The trim repair is not about silencing air-like noises - it is about keeping the outside noises from entering the car. Among other things, you will notice that the sounds of surrounding vehicles are lessened and you will notice that the noises from wet roads are diminished. And, be aware that the warning sounds from emergency vehicles are substantially attenuated.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that changing to the "finned trim" does not contribute to decreasing the wind noise. If you have some reason or desire for the finned trim, it is readily available from Internet based providers for about $18 per side and I believe the Lexus dealer MSRP is about $26 per side. If you want to get it from a dealer, try a Toyota dealer as they will probably have a better price.

I've done the fin fix on a 08 460L. Helped but still was present. I bought the seal lubricant and it really helped. I think the passenger side is 90% gone. The driver side is still there. I believe it's the door seal. There's a hard section and it appears to be somewhat curved in. I can't think of a way to test. That's the next step. The

Was there a recall on this ? I am looking over the history on Lexus for a car I am looking to buy and I saw this.... See attached.

It's not a recall, it's a TSB. If your car is still under the original warranty (not CPO or extended warranty), Lexus will fix it. Otherwise, you are SOL.

Do they do the same process ? And is it as quiet as this process here ?
