Default Muting ML

Is there a quick way to mute the ML system from the steering wheel (or anywhere else for that matter)? There used to be a button on the steering wheel where you could preset a volume level that I would use for a mute button, but that no longer exists. I know you can turn the volume down to zero, but I was hoping to find a quicker way.

Hold the lower volume button in, but of course you will have to reset it. Turn the radio off with the panel radio push button; it will resume where you left it. Or voice command audio off and audio on. The ls 430 had a steering wheel buttton for muting, but I pushed it by accident enough times that it wasn't that helpful, or fumbled for it when I needed it. Of course, the reason to mute was usually for an incoming call, and that is now done automatically, so for me it is no great loss. The mute botton is the least of it. I would rather have the old nav system back, as it was more accurate and easier to use, allowed you to pick prior locations while moving, etc, but life moves on.
