Default Is anyone wanting zip?

I am in my 5th month of a 2008 SWB/ML. The car does so many things so well, it puzzles me that I'm a bit bored with it. Does anyone else feel similar? I like so much about the car but yet it leaves me a bit flat as to the fun side of the scale. I'm seriously thinking of moving into the German brands but Lexus can't be beat for comfort, electronics or fit and finish. However, where is the zoooooom????? Maybe I want too much. Thoughts are always welcome. Happy Sunday all.

You must be feeling what the car mag writers refer to as a "lack of soul" in the LS. They just don't find it as engaging on a day-to-day basis as some other cars with quirks and oddities. I personally feel it's because the car just does everything so well.

But I say whenever you get that feeling, just punch that 380hp engine from a stop and then you'll feel its soul.

Lexus is definitely about the luxury as opposed to the sport. I drove my neighbors S550 and I have to say that I would prefer to drive mine but that is just my preference.

I love the car and don't have any desire to switch.

When I want some fun in my LS 460, I use the "S" mode. I can choose the gear I want and get instant reponse. At my age this is the second most fun I get.

Get the hybrid, that will give you those extra ponies! I can't believe how a car this big gets up and boogies like it does! Sure its no sports car ,but thats not what it was meant for.

Here is the recipe for fun:

Stop the car (engine running, just not moving)
Long press on the traction control button until the Yellow warning sign light up
Press the ECT-PWR button
Found a large empty parking lot
Floor it
Turn the wheel
Full opposite lock
Enjoy
Repeat
Change tires...

A key is having the right tires and wheels. 19" wheels like the ones on the Lexus touring version makes a big difference.

It's easy to feel that way in this car. I have the touring model with the ML sound system. I came from 3 generations of 7 series, when I feel like you do and I do about once a month, I think of what Chris Bangle did the the BMW product line, I think about i-drive the styling and so one.

I than put my LS in sport mode and crank up the tunes and feel much better. yes turn off the traction control and those burnouts are fun......

Lexus is the car that's used to go and pick up those exciting German cars from the shop once a month...
