It's the question of this thread... I think we are all kind of wondering that one...

I guess disabling GPS, I think the only reason is they don't want people tracing them... Your your Imagination here... I'm sure we can all think of more than a few reasons why someone does not want to be tracked...

It is not the GPS you would need to disable, but instead the cell radio/antenna that is sending the data back to Lexus. Not sure if it is the same in all years, but in the 2007 that is a separate module, assuming you have the LexusLink option. It seems like it would just be a matter of adding a switch to either kill power to the module and its backup battery, or perhaps a relay that would disconnect the cell antenna it uses.
